Go simple and classic with a pair of jeans and boots, or layer under a corduroy blazer or knit cardigan with thick scarves for that earthy “sheep herder in the city” look just featured by GQ. An authentic hand knit Nordic sweater from Oslo will set you back a pretty penny ($200-400), but will no doubt last a lifetime and be your go-to winter piece for simple styling. If your bank account is moth-eaten, LLBean and has less expensive options that will fill the Nordic niche, and don’t forget your friendly neighborhood Salvation Army, where we recently hit the jackpot with a fabulous trend-fit knit for $2!!
